Outclass Crystallized Gems was established in 2015. We are a first generation diamond cutting and polishing company located in the heart of Kimberley, South Africa, amongst souls who care deeply about the history of diamonds.
DESMOND M RATSOMA
Co-founder & Shareholder
• 37-year old, from Polokwane, South Africa.
• I grew up with 6 siblings & relatives in a very small house in
the village of Tjatjaneng.
• My first business (age of 10): Selling cigarettes at local bus
station after school.
• My first job (age of 14): Packing oranges for a local farmer.
• I got the opportunity to go study diamond cutting &
polishing, never looked back.
•I worked at Zurel Bros at the beginning.
• Now: 15+ years in the diamond industry with qualifications
from reputable institutions such as the GIA.
• Trained over 350 students including those with disabilities.
• Qualified sign language instructor.
• Entrepreneurship certificate from the Cape Peninsula
University of Technology.
• Member of the Young Diamantaires Group.
ROBIN S BHEBHE
Co-founder & Shareholder
• 29-year old from Bulawayo, Zimbabwe.
• My First business (age of 15): Selling toasted cheese &
ham sandwiches at boarding school.
• Diversified into the cell phone business
(One of the first people to import Blackberry phones)
• Awarded the best student overall at the Kimberley
International Diamond & Jewellery Academy (KIDJA) 2013.
• Received a full bursary from DeBeers in the year 2014 to
enhance my knowledge and experience in the industry.
• Awarded a scholarship by the Gemological Institution of
America (GIA) to study Gemmology in 2015.
• Now: Member of Young Diamantaires Group & actively involved in the Fundraising Committee.
KAMOGELO MANGENA
Book-keeper
• 25-year-old, from a small town called Jane Furse in the Limpopo Province of South Africa.
• I intended to study for a bachelor’s in social work but then found myself in the accounting stream.
• Nevertheless, I took the opportunity at hand and pursued a Bachelor of Commerce at the University of Limpopo.
• My mentor introduced me to a student chapter called AWCA (African Women Chartered Accountants), where I then served as the Vice-Chairperson in 2019.
• This experience further helped me to grow as an individual, as I actively participated in community outreaches at high schools and numerous talks with professionals in the field.
• Hence my natural progression, to volunteer & serve as Treasurer at The Rooted Gem Foundation, OCGems NPO.
ADRICIA SERURUBELE MAKOBO
Polisher
• 33-year-old from the world-renowned diamond city, of Kimberley,
South Africa.
• I immediately fell in love with diamonds, upon enrolling at the
Kimberley International Diamond and Jewellery Academy (KIDJA)
in the year 2015.
• I continue to work hard, looking to build on the foundations laid,
having completed the following courses at the Kimberley
International Diamond & Jewellery Academy:
• National Certificate: Processing Bottom Polishing (L3)
• Further Education and Training Certificate: Diamond Processing Brillianteering (L4)
• Further Education and Training Certificate:
• Diamond Processing Cross worker(L4)
+ GIA Diamond Grading Lab Class Certificate.
• During my downtime, I like going to the gym, as I find aerobic classes
therapeutic.
SHANEEN STACEY CALVERT
Marketing
• 22-year-old, born & raised in the world-renowned diamond city, of
Kimberley, South Africa.
• I matriculated from high school in 2019 and immediately went on to
study Graphic Design at the IIE Vega School in Bordeaux,
Johannesburg.
• I’ve always been fascinated by graphics, computers, and social media.
Hence after 3 hard-working years, I obtained my BA in Graphic
Design.
• It is my goal to pursue a full certificate in digital marketing, as I have
always desired to extend my knowledge and experience in the field of
marketing.
• Today, due to hard work & determination, I have the privilege & honor
of working as the Marketer for Outclass Crystallized Gems (OCGEMS).
• As I grow in knowledge & experience, I cannot wait to play a part in
showcasing diamonds in a whole new light in the digital world.
KEDIBONE NOMBULELO SEKONYELA
Polisher
• 21 year old female that is born and bred in Kimberley, Northern Cape.
• After matriculation in 2019, I then started my diamond polishing journey
in 2021 at the Kimberley International Diamond and Jewellery
Academy.
• I obtained my International Certificate in Processing Bottom and
Top Polishing L3.
• Fast forward to today, I am currently working as a certified polisher for
Outclass Crystallized Gems
• I have a love and appreciation for art.
• My hobbies include, singing, listening to music,reading & baking.
You’ll find me doing one of these activities during my spare time.
